01/16/10 room, night - I wanted to get in one more entry before bed today. I looked at Buddhist burial rites for a little while but then I remembered a Japanese student, Naoko san, recommended an anime called Love Complex to me. So I decided to look at it really fast and then get right back to homework. Guess how well that worked out. Needless to say I am very much addicted to LoveCom now, ahem. At around 4:30 my host mom’s daughter and her two sons (one in 2nd and one in 5th grade) dropped in for a visit. If she was expecting them she didn’t mention it to me. The kids barely spoke to or looked at me or anyone else the entire time because they were too busy playing video games (Brawl). My host mom let me help her make some Chinese dumplings, which we had for dinner. They were quite good. The boys had to be dragged from their game, hardly ate, and were finished and back in the living room playing again within minutes. Megumi san, my host mom’s daughter was very nice. After dinner I went to my room to work on stuff and then had shower time and then came back and did a couple more things. I am not going to lie; I plan to watch a couple more episodes of LoveCom before I sleep. It’s addicting. I am a horrible student sometimes. DX 22:03 (J time)

ReplyDeleteI finally managed to start reading your blog (after all the pre-semester chaos started dying down) and I'm seriously jealous. Hearing about all the amazing places and aspects of culture you get to see convinced me to do everything in my power to study abroad. (So I have to thank you for being inspiring :D )
If you learn a lot of Japanese recipes while you're abroad, I just discovered an AMAZING Asian food store just a short walk from the school (I'm not sure if you've been there before, but if you haven't, they literally have every kind of snack/condiment/fish/tea/everything else that you could think of. There's even cheap pocky!) I plan on learning to cook decently, so I can maybe be the resident chef on the interest floor. XP
