Monday, lots of lovecom and shukudai (homework)

01/18/10 room, night- So after watching a couple of episodes of LoveCom last night… I went to sleep and when I was eating breakfast the next morning my host mom surprised me with a bento (boxed lunch)! She is so great! I met Kai san in the train station at 8:05 and we went to Nanzan together and then to class. I was 20 minutes early this time!! :D I did homework (not the homework for today) and talked with folks until class started. I wanted to talk to the head instructor about being late on Friday (like how much am I goin’ get docked for that) but she was out today and the two assistant instructors did the whole class. They are both really nice and good teachers but neither have very much English. I tried to explain in Japanese and I don’t think they understood but told me to talk to the main instructor tomorrow.

At 1:30 was my tea ceremony class. It’s being conducted in Japanese. It was intimidating. After class the instructor gave out little cake type things to everyone. Well that part wasn’t intimidating; that part was delicious. :d I talked to her about only being in IJ 300 hundred and she said that mostly there isn’t much listening to do and I can ask my friends for help. She assured me I would be alright which was comforting; I don’t want to fail a class where we sit and drink tea… I went to the library afterwards with Kai san and we both asked if we could work there. Apparently four other people have asked for jobs ahead of us so the librarian said she would take our names down and if they wound up needing us they would contact us. I can’t count on that though so I need to pursue more options. Kai san and I started home together. At Ozone station we saw a guy holding a big sign that read (in English) “FREE HUGS”. I took a picture of him (at a fair distance).

When I we got to Kozoji station it was 6 and dark and my host mom said that if I ever came home late and it was dark to call her and she would come and pick me up. If I ride the bus I have to walk home about 10 minutes and it doesn’t sit right with my host mom. When she first said it I didn’t quite understand. I said, “I’m ok with walking home in the dark.” And she was totally scandalized and exclaimed, “No you can’t! It’s dangerous!” I gotta say I was touched that she cares that much. I know she’s responsible for me but I still think she goes above and beyond the call. ;3

So I called her and she came and got me (Kai san took the bus, her bus stop is right outside her house, lucky duck) and when we got home I helped her finish dinner. After dinner I updated my spending record, looked at email, and honestly messed around until shower time (I watched LoveCom). After shower time I did homework. So. Much. Homework. It’s going to get old really fast. We’re still reviewing now. I can’t wait until it’s NEW material. 3: after I finished the homework I once again watched LoveCom. I figure if I could just finish the series before things really pick up… I gotta sleep though too… My entries are getting shorter; I guess it was inevitable but I will try to at least squeeze one in a day. 0:14
